MINIMUM WAGE
I realize that the current minimum wage is not enough to live on. And, I am sure there are a load of arguments to justify an increase in the minimum wage.
As far as Countrytyme goes, there is no reason for us to take sides on this dispute.
But, here is my personal point of view, as bizarre as it might be. I think Ohio would be smart to lower the minimum wage. This would be a stimulus to business, and it would open up more jobs for the folks who now can’t cut the mustard.
The word would go out that Ohio is a low cost labor location, so it would attract business, and it would attract immigrants. Business would boom.
As businesses do better, it is likely that careful, competent and energetic people could be paid more as the businesses thrive. But the average worker could at least have a job.
Now, I realize it is not enough. But maybe grandma and the kids could get jobs also, and maybe dad could get two jobs.
The idea is that Ohio is in competition with North Carolina. And Ohio is in competition with Mexico and China. We may devise other ways to compete, but this is one way – lower minimum wages.
