Legal Department

Countrytyme was started by me, a lawyer, but we have always consulted with outside attorneys expert in real estate law and other pertinent fields.  However, Countrytyme normally likes to develop inside expertise for regular specialized work that we have.

Therefore, a couple years ago we hired Wendi Bootes, a Worthington, Ohio, native who graduated from Capital Law School.  She works at Countrytyme three days a week and at home one day a week.

Wendi has an interest in business management also, and in particular, she enjoys politics. Therefore Wendi has become our company politician, and she works regularly with competitors, organizations, and with legislators as well as with our outside lobbyist on political issues pertinent to Countrytyme.

Wendi became so busy, and her work was so popular that that we decided to hire a law clerk to help her.  But luckily, Wendi persuaded us to hire Sarah Swisher, a second Capital Law School graduate who is also part time.  Sarah is a cracker jack real estate lawyer, and now we have a very competent inside law “firm” to help us with legal problems and to help us anticipate business problems that can be solved by legal planning.

We are particularly fortunate to have two such fine attorneys, and they are also very helpful on business ideas as well as legal planning.  One or both of them might eventually migrate into other areas of our business.

Sometimes our legal department refers the work to outside law firms for specialized expertise.  We have noticed that they are very good at locating experts in law, and we feel we are saving money by having our own legal department to hold down legal fees and to avoid legal disputes.

Wendi and Sarah have two children each.  We were originally introduced to Wendi by Joe and Erin Wilcox.  Joe is my son and a local orthopedic surgeon.  He and Erin went with Wendi to Worthington High School.
