Shawnee State Forest
The Shawnee State Forest is a huge woods on the Ohio River west of Portsmouth, Ohio on the border of Scioto and Adams County. It has over 60,000 acres of
contiguous hilly terrain with a circular hiking trail that couldn’t be covered
in one day. It also has beautiful horse
trails, a golf course on the river, numerous lakes, and a boat marina carved
into the Ohio River banks. It has
a state park lodge and restaurant. We
don’t have to go to Colorado to enjoy beauty and seclusion in the great outdoors.
The Chillicothe office of Countrytyme has a recreational land
development adjacent to “the Shawnee” on the north side of the park, far away from where
most people would use the park. We have parcels up to and over 50 acres at a
reasonable price if your family would like a great private retreat adjacent to
a huge secluded park great for hunting, hiking, birding and wildlife
photography.
If you had a boat at the
marina, you could go west and south on the river to see the Reds play, or you
could go east and north to Marietta
just as the Indians used to do. However,
it is so beautiful and peaceful at Shawnee that I doubt you will want to leave once you have a
retreat there.
