Squatter

Mark at Chillicothe reports that Doug is buying a property that has a real squatter on it.  This is not so common Ohio, and it is more common in Kentucky.

Therese at the Call Center has a proposal on the squatter.  She suggested we put our portable cabin at “the Chill” (Chillicothe office) on a trailer and truck it down and plunk it near the squatter.  Hopefully, he will move into the nice cabin, and then Therese will move it in the night to an unnamed place.

Florida

I am planning our new St. Augustine office that will actually be around I-95 near the potato capital of Florida, Palatka.  Anyone who reads this that wants to be paid to live in paradise, please give me a call at 614-886-7730.  It will be 2005 before it starts, and it will very likely start slowly.

Goats

Is it my imagination, or am I seeing more and more goats around here?  Is there some trend on goats?

Somerset, Perry County, Ohio

Chris has a new listing of a 207-acre property near Somerset high on a hill.  The sale blew up, so it is available now.  I went over to see it and broke my Element in on cross country and trail riding.  It is about 100 acres of timber worth maybe $50,000 and 60 acres of hay and 40 acres of soybeans.  So it could be called:

  1. A retreat one hour from I-270.
  2. A farm for a recreational farmer.
  3. A ranch for a person who wants cattle.
  4. A place for 4X4, 4 wheelers, hill climbers, etc.

This is a beautiful piece of America, and I hated to leave it just before sunset. The neighbors are friendly, and there is a farmer that can go with it.  Call Chris at 866-875-1576.  Chris is a Countrytyme Realtor.

OSU Tailgate

Countrytyme is planning a Penn State game tailgate.  Call me at 614-886-7730 if you would like an invitation to talk country talk.

Semi Tractor

Mark at the Chill took in a Freightliner semi tractor in trade on a lot.  Therese suggested we use it to tow the mobile cabin around, but I bet it is for sale.

Small Farm Bureau

Wendi is planning to start a Small Farm Bureau for folks that are our customers or prospects and others interested in the small farm culture in our territories.  This might include vendors and contractors who deal with us or our customers, and we don’t intend to prevent competitors and their customers from joining up.

We all have a lot in common, and we deal with some of the same problems.  This is not as ambitious as it sounds; we will start with a few folks getting together to break bread, and go from there.

The idea is that an organization of folks in our crowd could develop into a source of leads and a source of political assistance, if we could all get along.

If you want to talk about this “opportunity” call me at 614-886-7730 or Wendi at 614-875-1070.  Wendi is a Countrytyme attorney.

Covenants and Restrictions

Our attorney tells us that once we have sold a split up property, we are not in a proper or legal position to assent to changes in the covenants and restrictions, no matter what “rights” we may have to do so in the restrictions.  So our policy is to withhold assent to changes in the neighborhood unless the neighbors also agree.

We are considering doing just the opposite now as a favor to a competitor and with the escrow of $10,000 for political legal fees.
